ASK VIC—Is Trend Micro capable of running smoothly in conjunction with MalwareBytes?
This weeks “Ask Vic” question is courtesy of Glenn.
“I am a subscriber of Trend Micro Titanium 2012. The product is excellent, IMHO. Even though I am aware that Trend Micro protects against Malware, it has been suggested that I subscribe to MalwareBytes as well for additional protection. Is Trend Micro capable of running smoothly in conjunction with MalwareBytes? — Or, do you think MalwareBytes is totally unnecessary? Be honest Vic!”
Glad you like Titanium 2012. I do too.
As to whether Malwarebytes is “totally” unnecessary, let’s look at it this way. Titanium 2012 provides comprehensive protection, and you like it, so I’d suggest you make that your main go-to security solution. If for some reason you believe that Titanium did not detect a certain malware strain that made it onto your system, then trying an alternative security solution may make sense. I cannot vouch for one alternative solution over another because I have not done comprehensive testing of products competitive with Titanium 2012.
However, I can point you in the direction of a discussion thread on Trend Community (http://community.trendmicro.com/t5/Home-and-Home-Office-Forum/can-you-run-another-anti-virus-with-trend-micro/m-p/18709/highlight/true#M3948) that discusses Titanium compatibility with other AV applications. I think you will find this discussion useful.
Got an Internet security question, Ask Vic here.
I work for Trend Micro and opinions expressed here are my own.
